There is also a dining area with adjacent screened porch and open deck with gas grill where endless hours will be spent watching the water and wildlife. Upstairs you will find the main bedroom with king size bed and a second bedroom with two twin beds. Upstairs will also have a shared bath that includes a shower and soaking tub. During your stay you will be able to use the closed in ground floor garage area where you and your guests can enjoy a friendly game of ping pong.
This property features a concrete pier with plenty of room to tie up your boat. There is a ramp less than 1 mile away - Talk about convenient! There are two kayaks for you to use while exploring the local waters and creeks. Kids will enjoy fishing right from the dock as well! Water depth is 3-4 feet at end of pier. Please know that the boat and boat lift are not included or available for guest use.

Owners have taken the time to have a lot of items furnished that make for a very comforting stay. The kitchen is fully stocked with various items needed to cook regardless of what you are preparing. The dock is set up with bumpers on the pilings to rest your boat on in two separate locations. Dock has power and two separate fresh water hoses ready to spray your boat off after a day on the water. Boat ramp is super close to the property. We stayed five nights, very comfortable. Everyone enjoyed their stay. I will book again next time I'm heading to Oriental.

I will say that the photos make it look bigger than it actually is, but for our purposes it worked great. The dock was excellent, and we were able to put the boat in just down the road. Note for anyone else thinking of bringing a boat/fishing- the drive is too small for pulling a loaded trailer into. Would definitely recommend this home!

This was an amazingly beautiful and comfortable home. The hosts were incredibly responsive and accessible, and the property surpassed our expectations based on the pictures and description. We came down for a wedding, so we didn't spend as much time at the property as we would have liked, but we would definitely love to come back to relax, unwind, and enjoy the beautiful scenery and quaintness of Oriental.

We could now have had a better vacation. The house was very clean and stocked with everything we needed to enjoy ourselves. The area was beautiful and we enjoyed seeing all the local wildlife with deer in the front yard and turkey running around the area. We even caught a glimpse of a bear. The fishing dock was another great feature of the house. We caught a wide variety of fish and enjoyed just sitting on the dock watching the boats passing. The little town of Oriental had everything we needed and the area is beautiful . We hope to be able to enjoy a return trip next year

Spent Labor day weekend with family fishing and boating as the weather and wind permitted. Beautiful place, we love the Pamlico / Neuse River area. Caught a mess of fish including my wife's first Bull Drum. Spent the rest of the week with a group of friends. Could not have asked for a better week! Everyone loved the house. We will definitely be back!

We enjoyed a very peaceful few days at Cast Away with our daughters. This is a great spot if you're looking to enjoy nature or just get away from city life. We appreciated having use of the two kayaks and swimming off the dock, as well as lots of options for games and puzzles. We ended up driving into Oriental (~12 min) and New Bern (~40 min) to have something to do since it rained during our stay. Would also highly recommend mosquito spray as this part of NC has lots of marsh. We found the house clean, comfortable, and met all of our needs.

Wow! Peaceful and serene. The house was exactly what we were looking for, a location to get away from the busy world and spend quality family time together. The dock was amazing to watch sunrises and sunsets, and great for fishing. Will definitely try to stay here again.

We just returned from a week's stay at this lovely rental. To say the kitchen was well appointed with all the Pots, Pans, Plates, Utensils, etc would be an understatement - and they were in GREAT shape. We spent our mornings sipping coffee from the screened in porch and listening to the sounds of the wind chimes and the birds chirping. Bring your Binoculars to check out all of the birds, Dolphins, and Deer! It was an easy drive into the town of Oriental and not too far from New Bern (about 40 minutes). We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a nice, quiet getaway

This location was great for a weekend getaway with 3 kids, aged 11-18. They all found something to do between fishing, kayaking, and using the paddle boards we brought. The bottom floor had lots of nice extras (a bait fridge, extra paddles, life jackets, fishing equipment). Great place to relax.

This house was perfect. The dock provided a quiet place for meditation. The mornings were alive with the waves lapping, the fish jumping, and the birds chirping. This was a quiet place out of the way. One issue we had was bugs. We had some wasps come in, a few small bugs, a spider in the blinds, and a couple large cockroaches. These roaches were big, and not an infestation kind. I would definitely return.

Beautiful Stay On The Water

We loved our stay at this property! The listing was 100% accurate. We worked remotely for the two weeks we were there and had no problem with internet. The living spaces were great, but the screened-in porch is the star of the show! Such a beautiful setting and our dogs loved being able to run in the yard. We travelled from out of state so observing the weather and changing river levels was fascinating! We had lovely days when we spent time kayaking with the provided gear and loved sitting on the dock watching the wildlife too. Because we were there for 14 days, we took a weekend side trip to Wilmington and the ocean beaches which was also fun. We also attended a Friday night concert at the waterfront park in New Bern. We ate dinner in Oriental at Silos and Toucan Grill and enjoyed ice cream at The Bean. The Piggly Wiggly grocery story had everything we needed, and Food Lion was just a bit further away. I highly recommend this property!

Our family had a wonderful time, as always, at Cast Away. This is our second stay and we can't wait to return again! The home has everything you need and more! The kitchen is fully equipped, the beds are so comfy, and being on the dock to watch the sunset is amazing!! We took our boat and with the boat landing right around the corner. It makes it so easy!! But don't worry, if you don't have a boat, fishing right off the dock is great too! We all had a great time and are looking forward to the next visit to Cast Away!!

We just returned from a five day stay at the Castaway. Even though it was the middle of a hurricane, and it rained every day, my husband, my dog, and I had the absolute best time. To say the location is relaxing is an understatement. There is a wonderful second story screened in porch, and I swear I felt like I was on a birdwatching expedition. The house is super functional, and we had absolutely everything we needed. I very much hope to return for another lovely stay. Thank you for having us.

We had a wonderful week at Castaway. The house was very welcoming and the views of the water were wonderful. We enjoyed sunrises from the porch and sunsets from the dock. We took our boat and being able to dock it there was a huge plus. I would highly recommend castaway if you are looking a place to disconnect, relax and enjoy nature. The dolphins were amazing to watch every day.

We just returned, and it was everything that we imagined and wanted We arrived to blue crabs in the crab pot (Which by the way is already in the water hanging off the dock). My son caught fish every single day! The kayaking was so Peaceful. We loved the little town and even took the ferry down to the crystal coast and saw the wild horses. My favorite place was Screened in porch with the beautiful breeze, wind, chimes chirping, birds, and smell of the saltwater.

Great place for our needs. We own 17’ sailboat which we put in at a very lightly used boat ramp around the corner. Three minutes away. It was great to walk out to boat and take off. Screened in porch was nice. Great view of water and bay was about ten minutes away. Longer for a sailboat. You are about ten minutes from downtown Oriental. Caught a nice fish right off dock. They have kayaks but seems a little precarious to launch them off dock. It’s doable just not for us. Nice yard too.
